Daniel Radcliffe is to star in Now You See Me 2, fellow cast member Michael Caine has revealed.

Radcliffe will play Caine’s son in the sequel to the thriller about a group of illusionists known as the Four Horsemen, who pull off bank heists during their performances and grant the money to the audience.

Caine told HeyUGuys: "There’s a sequel to Now You See Me and we’re shooting in London. I shoot in December, the whole of December in London, and my son is Harry Potter.

"I thought it’d be funny, me and Daniel Radcliffe as father and son."

Directed by Louis Leterrier, the original movie boasted an impressive cast, including Caine, Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson and Isla Fisher. Amid mixed reviews it achieved box office success, grossing $351,723,989 worldwide.

It is believed that Jon M Chu will direct the sequel, with the main actors set to reprise their roles. Caine plays Arthur Tressler, an insurance magnate and the Four Horsemen’s sponsor.

Radcliffe has carved out an impressive career since the days of wands and wizardry, with roles in The Woman in Black and What If. He is also set to appear in Trainwreck and Frankenstein, both due to hit cinema screens next year.

Now You See Me 2 is scheduled for release in 2016.
