From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Almost every actor under the Sun has been linked to the role of James Bond, with Daniel Craig regularly fending off questions regarding who he would like to take over.

In a recent interview with Capital FM, the Spectre actor was (genuinely) asked what he thought about Niall Horan of boyband One Direction becoming the next 007.

According to the report, Craig was “enthusiastic” about the choice, saying Niall would be “absolutely fantastic”. He also called the singer “a good man” who would do the part justice.

In case you're not sure which one is Niall, it's this guy:

Niall’s name has apparently been a favourite for some time, if you believe Directioners' casting acumen. Other’s in contention for the role include Idris Elba, Henry Cavil and Tom Hardy.

At the Spectre press junket, the often frosty Craig was asked some hilariously soapy questions:

The 24th Bond film is expected to break box-office records in the UK, having grossed $6.4 million on its first night.

Spectre, also starring Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris, is in cinemas now.
