From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The latest James Bond film, Spectre, is expected to break box-office records in the UK, having grossed $6.4 million on its first night.
Over his 24 cinema outings, 007 has travelled to dozens of countries, killed hundreds of bad guys, slept with numerous women and drunk a lot of alcohol.
While Bond may be a sexist, misogynistic dinosaur (M’s words, not ours), according to data collected by The Economist, Daniel Craig’s Bond has actually been the least successful when it comes to sexual relations.
However, as Bond’s been with less women he’s drunk a lot, lot more. Craig’s martini consumption soars well above the other actors who have portrayed Bond, Roger Moore having downed the least on average throughout his 12-year tenure.
Craig’s films have also grossed the most out of all the Bonds, on average making $835 million.
It was reported earlier this year that since Bond’s decision to drink a Vesper in Casino Royal, Gin consumption in the UK has increased.
Spectre, also starring Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris, is in cinemas now.
