Another week, another set of James Bond-related rumours. Now, sources are insisting Sony are throwing millions at Daniel Craig to keep him on board as the series’ main character.

According to Radar, executives have offered the actor $150 million to play Bond in two more feature film, the two of which would be shot back-to-back.

Whether Craig accepts the offer is anyone’s guess at the moment: before the release of Spectre, the 48-year-old told one interviewer “I’d rather slash my wrists” than play Bond again despite being paid a rumoured $65m (£48.76m) for the film.

However, a source told Radar this may have actually played to Craig’s advantage: “[He] has played a genius hand. Everyone knows how much executives adore him, and the idea of losing him at such a crucial time in the franchise isn’t an option as far as all the studio honchos are concerned.”

Recently, an ‘official’ list of replacement candidates was released online, featuring the likes of Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, and Aidan Turner. Whoever plays Bond next, whether Craig or another, will be chosen by producer Barbara Broccoli.

Sony has so far declined to comment on the rumours. Craig is currently filming Steven Soderbergh's film Logan Lucky, alongside Channing Tatum and Adam Driver.
