Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Channing Tatum has shared a joint statement announcing he and his wife, Jenna Dewan, are separating after eight years of marriage.
"We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple," the statement read. "We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now.
"There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision - just two best friends realising it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly.
"We won't be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family's privacy."

The two actors met on the set of the dance film Step Up in 2005, and married in 2009. They have a 4-year-old daughter, Everly.
Just two weeks ago Tatum shared a photo on Instagram of himself and Dewan covered in paint, with the caption: "This is what it looks like when a little tyrant fairy artist holds you down and makes your face look 'better'.
The pair famously appeared together in 2016 on an episode of Lip Sync Battle, where Dewan mimicked Tatum's performance in Magic Mike to the track "Pony" by Ginuwine.
Dewan currently hosts NBC show World of Dance, while Tatum, who has starred in films including Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street, The Hateful Eight and Logan Lucky, is set to voice the character Migo in upcoming animated film Smallfoot.
