Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The actress will join Sally Hawkins, who plays her on-screen sister in the Woody Allen film, at the event in central London.
Blanchett, who won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2004 for The Aviator, plays New York socialite Jasmine, who moves in with her sister when her marriage and pampered life falls apart.
The Australian actress, whose career includes roles in Notes On A Scandal and the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, said she had "given up hope" of ever working with Allen.
She told ABC news: "Like so many actors, when you hear Woody Allen is interested in working with you, you take that call."
The premiere is at the Odeon West End in Leicester Square.
It was announced at the weekend that Hollywood veteran Allen will be honoured at the next Golden Globe Awards for his career, which has seen him produce a string of critically-acclaimed films including Annie Hall and Hannah And Her Sisters.
