Other candidates had included Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone, but Mulligan is the producers’ first choice, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, directed by James Ponsoldt, will follow Ms Clinton’s early career as a lawyer on the committee involved with Richard Nixon’s impeachment as well as the attentions of future president Bill Clinton.
