An “Instagram influencer” who appeared in Borat 2 has accused producers of “misleading” her.

Macy Chanel appears early on in the Amazon Prime Video film, which is a sequel to Sacha Baron Cohen's 2006 hit Borat (her name is spelt “Macey” in the film).

In the movie, Baron Cohen's comedy character takes his 15-year-old daughter, Tutar (Maria Bakalova), to visit Chanel for advice on how to make herself more presentable for older men.

The film’s plot follows Borat as he tries to offer Tutar as a gift to Vice President Mike Pence and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani.

At one stage, when Tutar says she wants to find someone who is near death, Chanel tells her she should seek out a man who has “just had a heart attack”.

Ahead of Chanel's appearance, Borat jokingly calls her “America’s leading feminist”.

While claiming she knew Bakalova was an actor, and that she herself was “in character” the entire time, Chanel has since revealed she’s had “a super difficult time” since Borat 2 was released last Friday (23 October).

Speaking to IndieWire, Chanel said she thought she was taking part in a Netflix series and feel she was “misled into playing a role as someone that does not reflect who [she is]”.

Chanel stated: “I have enjoyed a successful modelling and acting career where I can play any role given. In this case and probably many others, I did not read the ‘fine’ print.”

She had previously called appearing in the film a “total shocker” and admitted that Baron Cohen “got” her, adding: “But [it’s] kinda sad how he elicits ‘reality’.”

Chanel isn't the only one to have commented on their appearance in the film. Jeanise Jones, a professional babysitter who also features in the sequel, said she felt "betrayed” following the film's release
