From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The film documents the sexual harassment allegations made against Roger Ailes, the network’s former chairman and CEO, in 2016.
Theron is unrecognisable as Megyn Kelly, a former Fox News star who later moved on to NBC (before being fired in October 2018), while Kidman portrays Gretchen Carlson, who filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Ailes.
Ailes died in May 2017 and the lawsuit has been settled.
Bombshell begins with Carlson’s allegations and depicts their repercussions on the network as well as its employees, who must choose which side to stand on.
Margot Robbie stars as Kayla Pospisil, a fictional character who is a junior Fox News employee, while John Lithgow portrays Ailes.
SNL star Kate McKinnon, Allison Janney and Connie Britton also feature.
A first screening of Bombshell has prompted a wave of positive comments, as well as predictions that the film will be a major contender in this year’s awards race.
Theron’s performance, especially, has generated some Oscar buzz.
Bombshell will be released on 20 December in the US and on 24 January, 2020 in the UK.
