From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Plot details of the sequel to Ridley Scott's 1982 classic Blade Runner may remain unknown, but the film's full cast now appears to be in place.

Ryan Gosling has long been announced to join original star Harrison Ford - who'll reprise the role of Deckard - in the long-awaited follow-up alongside Robin Wright (House of Cards) and Mackenzie Davis (The Martian).

It's now been announced that Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto will star as a character whose identity producers are keeping quiet.

Leto most recently appeared as the Joker in the David Ayer-directed DC film that's currently performing well at the box office despite largely negative reviews. The actor, who picked up a Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club in 2014, has been vocal about the studio's treatment of his character following minimal screen time.

Canadian filmmaker Villeneuve's credits include Enemy and Sicario; his next film will be the Amy Adams-starring sci-fi Arrival, the trailer of which was released earlier on this week.

Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips) will also star int he sequel that's being produced by the film's original director Ridley Scott.

Blade Runner 2 will be released in October 2017.
