At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Kendrick Lamar has declared he wants to star in the next Black Panther film as a super-villain.

The "All The Stars" rapper announced his ambitions in an interview with BBC Radio on Thursday.

But Lamar doesn't just want a cameo: he wants a super-villain part akin to Michael B. Jordan's role of Erik Killmonger.

In his interview, Lamar said that Killmonger was "loved and misunderstood" and would want to take on a role of similar calibre.

In Black Panther, Killmonger is portrayed as a sympathetic villain who is relatable even if power-hungry.

Black Panther made over $108m at the box office in its second week in theatres.

With its latest profit, Black Panther now has the second highest second weekend in history, coming in just below Star Wars: Force Awakens.

Lamar's involvement with the film was already significant, having executive-produced the film's soundtrack and contributing five new songs to the album.

As of Monday, Black Panther has grossed over $400m in US theatres and $700m worldwide

Having Lamar in the next movie would definitely make things a lot more interesting.

Hopefully he gets his pick when it comes to choosing a role in the next film.
