Your support makes all the difference.Netflix has released a new trailer for horror Bird Box, by Academy Award-winning director Susanne Bier.
Adapted from Josh Malerman’s post-apocalyptic novel, it stars Sandra Bullock as a mother fighting for the lives of her children, as they attempt to navigate a world now fraught with danger, stalked by supernatural creatures that can kill anyone who catches sight of them.
The full synopsis reads: "When a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, only one thing is certain: if you see it, you take your life. Facing the unknown, Malorie finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary."
"But to survive, they’ll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded.”
The film also stars Trevante Rhodes, John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson and Jackie Weaver. It features a script by Eric Heisserer, who has experience both in the horror and sci-fi genres, having written Lights Out and Arrival.
Netflix has clearly seen great potential in the horror genre on its platform, steadily releasing a string of original films including zombie film Cargo, Stephen King adaptation Gerald's Game, and gorefest Apostle.
It's also seen great success with its series The Haunting of Hill House, which used ghosts hidden throughout the show to draw a web of intrigue for fans.
Bird Box will be released on Netflix on 21 December.
