Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, the two stars of the science fiction comedy film series, made the announcement on Wednesday in a video message.
Standing in front of the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (where they said they would “never play”), the two actors thanked their fans and confirmed that the sequel, titled Bill & Ted: Face the Music will hit theatres this summer.
Specifically, the sequel is slated to be released on 21 August, 2020.
Reeves and Winter will be reprising their respective roles as Theodore ‘’Ted’’ Logan and William ‘’Bill’’ S Preston Esq, two slackers who travel through time.
The third Bill & Ted movie comes 30 years after the original film, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, was released in 1989.
A sequel, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, followed in 1991, cementing the franchise’s spot as a slapstick classic.
