Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Some pretty bogus news: Bill & Ted 3 isn’t actually a done deal.

Despite the project seemingly being confirmed by stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, with producers unveiling the project at the Cannes Film Festival, Reeves himself has now suggested production roadblocks are in danger of throwing the whole thing off course.

“I don’t know if it’s a reality,” he told Yahoo Entertainment. “We’ve been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges.”

He didn’t go into detail about what exactly those challenges were, lumping them into “show business stuff — financing, rights, deals. Nothing creatively.”

However, Reeves is still optimistic about the sequel’s future, adding: “I really love the characters, and I think we have a good story to tell.”

He’s also keen to revisit the character of Ted “Theodore” Logan. “It’ll be interesting to see what that’s like,” he said. “There’d be a lot about him that would be the same, I’m sure; his kind of optimistic naïveté in the face of the darkness will still be there. He has a child now, so I’m sure he’s matured.”

Bill & Ted Face The Music will follow on from the prophetic words uttered by Bill and Ted’s mentor Rufus (George Carlin), who comes from the future and brings them the knowledge they’ll one day write music to save the world.

Except, that’s yet to happen. Now married with children, Bill and Ted must face up to the possibility they may never fulfil their destiny.

The film will be directed by Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot, with original Bill & Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, alongside original producer Scott Kroopf and Steven Soderbergh (yes, Steven Soderbergh) on board to produce.
