From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Beyoncé has teamed up with Outkast’s Andre 3000 on Winehouse’s song (which can be heard at 0.20 seconds), but it emerged the late singer’s father Mitch had not been consulted.
“First I have heard about Beyoncé and ‘Back to Black.’ Sounds like some of you don’t like the idea,” he tweeted yesterday. “I don’t know this but what if Beyoncé have £100,000 to foundation. Do you know how many kids that would help? Just putting it out there.”
The soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s 1929 novel The Great Gatsby is being scored by Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z. “It's a very different take on 'Back to Black',” a source told E! online.
The blockbuster film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role alongside Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire, was initially intended for release last summer. It hits cinemas next month.
