From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Buzz Lightyear's trademark cry of "To infinity…and beyond!" from Toy Story has topped a poll to find the UK’s favourite movie quote of all time.

In close second, by just one vote, was Michael Caine's "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" as Charlie Croker in 1969 British comedy, The Italian Job.

More than 2,500 film fans sent their suggestions in to Radio Times, where editors collated the top ten.

Al Pacino's "Say hello to my little friend" as Tony Montana in Scarface came third on the list, with lines from Roy Schneider in Jaws and Clark Gable in Gone With The Wind placing fourth and fifth respectively.

"That, surely, reflects the continuing popularity of films as emotional and intellectual entertainment.

"Therein, perhaps, lies a message for television programmers: the audience – or at least the thinking part of it, which I believe is greater than most programmers seem to acknowledge – is just as interested in the content and quality of the films themselves as they are in interviews with the stars."

A range of film genres were represented in readers' contributions, with quotes such as Sean Connery's "Bond. James Bond" and Humphrey Bogart's "Here's looking at you, kid" in Casablanca narrowly missing out on top spots.
