The schedule of Ben Affleck has undoubtedly increased tenfold since his decision to take on the role of the caped crusader.

As well as starring in Batman v Superman and cameoing in Suicide Squad, the actor will appear in next year's mashup Justice League as well as a new standalone Batman film which he will direct.

Fortunately, he's not remaining exclusive to DC. Deadline reports that Affleck will direct and star a fresh adaptation of Agatha Christie's short story Witness for the Prosecution for Fox.

A big screen version of the courtroom drama was originally released in 1957 starring Tyrone Power as a man on trial for murder, and Charles Laughton as his respected lawyer. Marlene Dietrich also appears in the six-time Oscar-nominated film from director Billy Wilder (Some Like It Hot).

Christopher Keyser, best known for creating US teen drama Party of Five, will write the updated version of the film that'll be produced by Jennifer Todd and his Good Will Hunting co-star Matt Damon.

Affleck's last film as director was the Best Picture Oscar-winner Argo. Next up is action-thriller The Accountant - released 4 November 2016 - and Live By Night, an adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel.

Despite DC's output thus far receiving its fair share of negative reviews, Affleck's performance as Bruce Wayne has been cited as a high point.

Live By Night arrives in UK cinemas on 13 January 2017 while Justice League will be released 17 November 2017.
