From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

“It’s official, Bad Boys 3 is happening, it’s official,” Smith excitedly told his 24.4 million Instagram followers.
Lawrence, who made a surprise appearance in the video, added: ”We’re making it happen.”
The video managed to rack up more than 6 million views and 96,000 comments in under 24 hours. Lawrence also took to Instagram to confirm the news, writing: “It’s official. Bad Boys for Life.”
Earlier this year, it was reported that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah would direct the sequel, which has been tentatively titled Bad Boys for Life. The sequel is expected to film in 2019 with a release date set for 17 January 2020.
Bad Boys, directed by Michael Bay, was one of Smith’s first major cinematic successes, grossing $141.4 million from a $19 million budget despite middling reviews.
The sequel, released eight years later, had a much higher budget ($130 million) and grossed $273.3 million at the box office.
