The release of a brand new Avengers: Infinity War trailer has sent Marvel fans' excitement into overdrive with many moments teasing surprises to come.

As you well know by now, the superhero sequel - from directors Joe and Anthony Russo - will serve as “the beginning of the end” of this particular phase of the MCU as Thanos' (Josh Brolin) hunt for the Infinity Stones (one of which is in Vision's head) switches up a gear, his rule over humanity inching ever closer to his grasp.

The film will follow the villain, who has been waiting in the wings since the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, as he journeys the galaxy facing opposition from pretty much every Marvel character going. This new trailer proves that Thanos will have help from trusty sidekicks known to Marvel fans as the Black Order, shown together for the very first time.

What do you need to know about the Black Order? Well, they're going to prove huge trouble for the Avengers, namely Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who will get tortured by Ebony Maw in the new film.

In the Marvel universe, the Black Order are deemed even more terrifying than Thanos. They can only be comprised of five members at one time and each is one of the most dangerous villains capable of taking out Thor and Hulk.

*Comic spoilers below*

In the comics, they are the ones responsible for steering Thanos to Wakanda - where the film's climax looks set to take place - and killing Shuri, King T'Challa's sister played by Letitia Wright in Black Panther.

This particular group includes the aforementioned Maw, Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive and Black Dwarf, who has been renamed Cull Obsidian for the film.

While it's not known who could play these characters, keen-eyed fans are expecting Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage to assume one of the villainous roles after spotting his name on the film's new poster.

In a brand new interview, the Russo brothers have revealed which two characters receive the most screen time in the film.
