From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Avengers: Endgame has already broken a huge record.

The trailer for the film – a sequel to the $2 billion-grossing Avengers: Infinity War – has the most-watched trailer of all time within a 24 hour time period across its platforms, picking up a staggering 289 million views.

“To the greatest fans in the world, thank you for being there from the beginning until the endgame and making this the most viewed trailer in history with 289M views in 24 hours!” Marvel Studios tweeted.

The record was previously held by the first official trailer for Infinity War, which managed 230 million views in 24 hours. Before then, the recent adaptation of Stephen King’s It held the record.

Avengers: Endgame – which remained untitled until the trailer was released – features an incredible cast of Marvel’s most beloved superheroes.

The trailer prominently features Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Chris Evans’s Captain America and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man. You can read The Independent’s shot-by-shot breakdown of the trailer here.
