From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The co-writer of Avengers: Endgame has said he “worries” Marvel bosses will ruin the effect of the 2019 blockbuster film.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely – who also wrote all three Captain America films – revealed they hope the Marvel Cinematic Universe will leave the fate of certain characters untouched in future films.

“I love writing for Cap, I love [Chris] Evans,” Markus said, adding: ”But I really feel, much like Tony [Stark], we got them to a place where they don’t need to do it anymore. I’d hate to gin up something hokey to get them back.”

McFeely agreed with Markus. “I do worry that if they do stuff like that, it’ll ding Endgame in the rearview mirror,” he said.

In Avengers: Endgame, Stark dies during the final battle with Thanos (Josh Brolin), while Captain America travelled back in time to the 1950s so he could spend his life with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell).

Robert Downey Jr is set to reprise the role of Stark in Black Widow’s standalone film, which will bridge the gap between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.

According to We Got This Covered, Evans might cameo in new Disney+ TV show, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which is based on characters played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan.

Avengers: Endgame is available to watch on NOW TV. Black Widow will be released in the UK on 1 May 2020.
