From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Chris Hemsworth has revealed he went to see Avengers: Endgame incognito with his three children after they begged him to take them to a showing.

The actor, who plays Thor, told Variety that upon returning to his native Australia after the Marvel film’s LA premiere in April he took his daughter and two sons to the cinema like a regular moviegoer.

“My kids were dying to see it,” he told the magazine. “I wasn’t going to take them. They were like, ‘Dad, we have to go!’ We found a small cinema so we wouldn’t get overwhelmed. I wondered if it would hold their attention for three hours.”

India Rose, his seven-year-old daughter, and her five-year-old twin brothers Sasha and Tristan, “loved” the blockbuster, according to Hemsworth.

Asked how he managed not to attract attention, the actor added: “We already had our seats in the back. I had a hat on.”

As luck would have it, the actor and his family stepped inside the cinema just as the trailer for Men in Black: International, in which Hemsworth plays one of the two main roles, was playing – meaning the outing was “kind of a double hit” for him.

Hemsworth has played Thor since 2011, when the first Marvel film dedicated to the God of Thunder came out.
