Your support makes all the difference.The Marvel Cinematic Universe just gained an extra ounce of credibility following the news that Annette Bening will appear in Captain Marvel.
Four-time Oscar nominee Bening will join Brie Larson for the female-led superhero film from directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
It's currently unknown what role Bening will play but according to The Hollywood Reporter, her character will be a “scientist.”
Captain Marvel will follow Brie Larson's Air Force pilot Carol Danvers who acquires powers after having her DNA fused with an alien life form.
Production is officially underway on the film that will also star Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn and Humans star Gemma Chan. Djimon Hounsou and Lee Pace will also reprise their Guardians of the Galaxy roles for the film while Clark Gregg will bring his Agents of SHIELD character back to the big screen for the film.
Bening's filmography includes films American Beauty, 20th Century Women and 2017 drama Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool. She'll also appear in Anton Chekhov adaptation The Seagull alongside Saoirse Ronan and The Handmaid's Tale star Elisabeth Moss which is yet to be handed a UK release date.
Captain Marvel will be released 8 March 2019.
