Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The report, which was attributed to an unidentified person close to the 32-year-old actress, contained no details, and there was no immediate comment from representatives for either Jolie or Pitt.
It was just two weeks ago that Jolie publicly acknowledged she was pregnant with twins during an interview at the Cannes Film Festival, where she was promoting the animated film "Kung Fu Panda" and the latest Clint Eastwood drama, "The Exchange."
In Touch magazine reported this week that Jolie had been ordered to bed for the rest of her pregnancy and was due to give birth via a Caesarean section around mid-July.
Jolie and Pitt, 44, together have adopted three-year-old daughter Zahara, six-year-old son Maddox and four-year-old son Pax. They also have a biological daughter, 22-month-old Shiloh.
Jolie, who turns 33 next month, won an Academy Award as best supporting actress for her role in the 1999 film "Girl, Interrupted."
