Alien: Covenant may be months away from release but that hasn't stopped Sir Ridley Scott from prepping a future film in the franchise, something he's already given a title to.

In a new interview discussing the sequel, Scott seemed to confirm that Covenant's follow-up will be titled Alien: Awakening.

Scott actually has plans to make a further three films which would see events meet up with those depicted in his 1979 classic Alien.

He told Fandango: “There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of [the original] Alien.

“It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant,“ he continued, appearing to confirm that it'll be either a Prometheus sequel or Covenant prequel.

Alien Covenant Prologue

Scott revealed in an interview that he's already written the sequel, perhaps spurred onwards by the overwhelmingly positive reaction Covenant received during footage preview last year.

Fantastic Beasts actor Katharine Waterston heads up the cast of Alien: Covenant alongside original star Noomi Rapace, Demián Bichir, Danny McBride, James Franco and Michael Fassbender (twice).

The film will be released on 12 May.
