Since the filming of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel/Alien prequel began, teases for the upcoming film have been hitting the internet.

First of all, a picture of an arm patch, featuring the word Covenant - following the film’s name, Alien: Covenant - as well as the company Weyland-Yutani (the culmination of Weyland Corp and Yutani, two companies that have appeared at various stages in the Alien Universe).

Finally, we have out first proper look at Katherine Waterson in the film, the setting for which looks remarkably like the original Alien.

The image - which appears in a photo of a monitor - was posted on the film's official Facebook page with the caption "Nowhere to run". Some fans have straightened it out, giving us our first image from the film.

20th Century Fox released the film’s official plot synopsis earlier this year. It reads: "Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world - whose sole inhabitant is the 'synthetic' David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

Notably, Noomi Rapace's explorer Elizabeth Shaw is not mentioned although she was last seen alive in Prometheus.

Fox has also confirmed there will be another film after Covenant, making up a full prequel trilogy linking directly to the original Alien.

The Bladerunner director previous revealed there could possibly be three sequels to Prometheus. Alien: Covenant is set for release in the US on 4 August 2017.
