From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. A new study has revealed the ten Hollywood stars who have used the most swear words on film.

Website Buzz Bingo analysed over 3,500 film scripts to discern which movies and actors boast the foulest mouths, with The Wolf of Wall Street containing more swear words than any other movie studied.

Jonah Hill, who starred in bawdy teen comedy Superbad before being cast alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, tops the list.

Other A-listers prone to particularly bad language include Samuel L Jackson, Denzel Washington and Al Pacino.

None of the top 10 most foul-mouthed actors are women. For the sake of the study, a swear word was defined by Ofcom’s “attitudes to potentially offensive language and gestures on TV and radio” report.

You can see the full top 10 list below, along with the total number of swear words uttered:

1. Jonah Hill – 376

2. Leonardo DiCaprio – 361

3. Samuel L Jackson – 301

4. Adam Sandler – 295

5. Al Pacino – 255

6. Denzel Washington – 183

7. Billy Bob Thornton – 145

8. Seth Rogen – 143

9. Bradley Cooper – 142

10. Danny McBride – 136
