From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Musician Phil Collins's daughter, actress Lily Collins ( The Blind Side), has been cast in the title role for a retelling of the fairy tale Snow White, announced the film studio on April 1.

Collins joins Oscar winner Julia Roberts, who will play the Evil Queen, and Armie Hammer ( The Social Network) in the as-yet-untitled film to be directed by Tarsem Singh ( Immortals, The Cell).

With a modern twist on the classic story about "the fairest of them all," the comedic adventure finds Snow White banding together a gang of seven dwarfs when her stepmother kills her father and destroys the kingdom.

Next up, Collins will be seen in the sci-fi horror film Priest, starring Paul Bettany and Christopher Plummer. She will also appear in Abduction by director John Singleton ( 2 Fast 2 Furious), costarring Taylor Lautner and releasing September 23.

The breakthrough actress will star in Mortal Instruments and play Juliet in the latest cinematic version of Romeo and Juliet - both films are scheduled for release next year.

Singh's Immortals opens November 11, starring Henry Cavill (upcoming Superman), Freida Pinto ( Slumdog Millionaire), John Hurt ( Harry Potter) and Mickey Rourke ( Iron Man II).

This film is one of two current Snow White projects. Snow White and the Huntsman will star Charlize Theron as the evil queen and possibly Kristen Stewart, who is in talks to play Snow White. It aims to hit theaters on December 21, 2012.

Production on Singh's film begins in May in Montreal and is scheduled for release June 29, 2012.
