The tagline reads "170,000 SQ miles of desert. 90 minutes of oxygen. No way out." The film studio released the first full trailer for the thriller Buried, starring Ryan Reynolds ( The Proposal, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) who will play the title character in the superhero film Green Lantern next year.

This unconventional trailer shows a collection of still images and graphics with audio from the film that reveals the storyline. The story is centered on a private contractor who is kidnapped in Iraq and buried alive for ransom. Trapped underground, he has access to only a mobile phone and a lighter.

The imagery reflects the poster, which looks like vintage artwork from Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, but appears like a film's title sequence.

This independent film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to much acclaim and released two effective teaser trailers a couple months ago (links are below), to present more of the character's claustrophobic panic and ‘buried' experience.

Buried will be released in select theaters on September 24 and expands wide October 8.
