Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Denzel Washington and Chris Pine ( Star Trek) star in the first trailer just released for Unstoppable, an action thriller to be released November 12.
Directed by Tony Scott, the story follows a railway engineer who teams up with a young conductor to chase an unmanned train with a cargo of combustible toxic chemicals, and control it before it derails and explodes in a city.
The intense footage shows the half-mile train racing down tracks and destroying vehicles and everything in its path as well as threatening other cargo - a group of school kids.
Scott worked with Washington in The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 last year about a runaway subway train as well as on Crimson Tide in 1995. He is set to direct Nemesis, a comic by Mark Millar ( Kick-Ass).
Based loosely on true events, the screenplay is by Mark Bomback ( Live Free or Die Hard, Race to Witch Mountain).
