Phase 3 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe just got a whole lot busier, with the addition of Ant-Man and The Wasp as well as three as yet ‘untitled’ films bringing the total to 14 films.

It’s all very exciting and fans have been speculating like crazy over which superheroes will fill those slots. Well, since everyone seems to be having a go, we thought we would too, so here are the three Marvel films we predict will be released in 2020.

Spider-Man 2

The first one isn't out yet, but this is pretty much guaranteed to fill one of the slots. The Sony email leaks revealed how Amy Pascal wanted the company to release a new Spider-Man film every three years at the least, and with the first coming in 2017… (2017 + 3 = 2020, we did the math)

Of course - if the first film flops - this may not happen. Let’s be honest with ourselves, that probably won’t happen unless, somehow, it's worse than Fantastic Four.

Blade

Marvel love introducing new franchises, and Blade is one of the very few they have left untouched that people may actually recognise.

Wesley Snipes has reportedly spoken to Marvel about reprising his role from the 1998 film. It will have been over 16 years since the last Blade film, just enough time for people to have forgotten about the originals and a reboot to not seem ridiculous.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3

There is likely going to be two sequels in 202 and the second slot was a choice between Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Strange.

This most definitely depends on how well Strange does at the box office, but as a sequel to Guardians is almost guaranteed - Marvel love their trilogies - then it seems the most likely of the two.

Also, the first was so, so good, this has to happen at some stage.

Other than Doctor Strange 2, a Captain America sequel could also come here.

The catch, however, is it almost definitely wouldn’t have Chris Evans as the leading man, with either Bucky or Falcon likely to have taken over as Cap by this stage.

Another contender could be a Black Widow film, with Scarlett Johansson as lead.

There’s been a huge calling for her own solo film, having previously appeared in Iron Man 2, both Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, as well as an upcoming appearances in Captain America: Civil War.

But could her story be played out already by this stage? Possibly, but we can dream.

The current release dates for the upcoming Phase 3 of Marvel films is:

Captain America: Civil War – May 6, 2016

Doctor Strange – November 4, 2016
