Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

If you wanted to drop a bombshell, then there's no better place to do it than at celebrity blogger Perez Hilton's party. His circus-themed birthday bash was held at Paramount Studios, in Los Angeles, with clowns, acrobats and face-painting.

Katy Perry arrived in a red sequinned leotard, on top of an elephant, to sing "Happy Birthday". Earlier that night, she had been covered in green slime at the 2010 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, before presenting Miley Cyrus with an award.

Leona Lewis performed "Bleeding Love" while wearing a bizarre Lady Gaga-type outfit, complete with a lace eye mask. Liza Minnelli sang "Theme from New York, New York" during a 45-minute set.

Guests included the teen sensation Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan, the High School Musical actress and singer Ashley Tisdale, and Tiger Woods's mistress number one, Rachel Uchitel.

The former Spice Girl Mel B dressed up as a ringmaster, in tight red satin trousers and thigh-high boots, and clutched a whip. The crowd took to the dance floor with Lohan spinning the decks as DJ.

Paula Abdul introduced a birthday video tribute, with messages from Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga. She also shared her experience with learning details of her own life on Hilton's blog.

Let's hope that making his birthday memorable wins you brownie points. Things can get quite vicious at perezhilton.com.
