Party Of The Week: Clash of the Titans bash ushers in the summer season
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

After signing autographs on the red carpet for the film's world premiere in London, she dashed off to perform in her West End show, The Little Dog Laughed, at the Garrick Theatre down the road. She missed out on watching the film but returned in time for the after party, held at the chic restaurant and bar, Aqua London, housed in the former Dickens & Jones department store on Regent Street.
The film's director, Louis Leterrier, who previously directed The Incredible Hulk and Transporter 2, joined cast members Alexa Davalos, Jane March, Mads Mikkelsen, Skins alumnus Nicholas Hoult, Jason Flemyng and Luke Treadaway to celebrate the premiere, ahead of the film's release today. They mingled with other guests, including the actor Alfie Allen, fashion designer Ozwald Boateng and the actor Andy Serkis.
Avatar star Sam Worthington, who trained six hours a day for two months to get in shape to play the film's hero, Perseus, son of Zeus, arrived with his girlfriend, Natalie Mark. But Ralph Fiennes, who plays Hades, god of the underworld, was nowhere to be seen. He is, apparently, busy filming and starring in his directorial debut, Shakespeare's tragedy Coriolanus, in Siberia. Or to put it another way, he's swapped Ancient Greece for the Roman Empire.
Sipping on a cocktail after the screening, Worthington said: "We're trying to kick it off with a bang. This is a fun, boisterous movie. It shouldn't be taken too seriously. It's a popcorn film. This is the start of the summer blockbusters."
