Party Of The Week: All the fun of the Fair at Oscars bash
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Vanity Fair post-Oscars party, hosted by its editor in chief, Graydon Carter, was held at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles.
A fake floor had been installed over its swimming pool to create more space for the hoards of Hollywood superstars.
Victoria Beckham came directly from Elton John's Aids Foundation bash and caused a hold-up on the red carpet as she posed for photographers.
Cameron Diaz, Natalie Portman, Amy Adams, Robert Downey Jr., Kristen Stewart, Diane Kruger, Zac Efron and Kate Bosworth were all squashed together inside the packed party.
The Best Actress winner, Sandra Bullock, clutched her Oscar proudly. She was joined by other Oscar winners including Best Director, Kathryn Bigelow, and Best Actor, Jeff Bridges. The artist Ed Ruscha, Rupert Murdoch, tennis star Serena Williams and the Black Eyed Peas mingled with Meryl Streep, Ben Stiller and Steve Martin.
Joan Collins and her novelist sister, Jackie, had been at the Vanity Fair dinner earlier, where they shared a table with 93-year-old Kirk Douglas, and Jane Fonda to watch the ceremony. Inglourious Basterds actor Eli Roth held hands with Peaches Geldof on the red carpet. He had started partying at 2pm before the Oscars at Quentin Tarantino's pizza, champagne and cupcakes party. Million Dollar Baby star Hilary Swank missed the Oscars ceremony itself, but she wore a revealing dress to the party.
The only thing left to do was to drop into Madonna's exclusive after-party in the Hollywood Hills. That's if you were invited along with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Penelope Cruz, Colin Firth and Oprah Winfrey...
