Lana del Ray does doom, gloom and va-va voom for The Great Gatsby with new song 'Young and Beautiful'
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. If you’ve seen one of the (approximately) 63 trailers that have so far been released for the upcoming The Great Gatsby, you would have caught a snippet of the film’s all-star soundtrack. Curated by Jay-Z, it features original material from Jack White, Florence and the Machine, and Emeli Sandé.
Lana Del Rey’s contribution, “Young and Beautiful”, has just been released and it’s typical of what we’ve come to expect from the “Video Games” singer, namely singing sultrily about pleasing her man, nostalgia, and a healthy dose of doom and gloom. “Will you still love me when I’m no longer young and beautiful?” she croons over some swelling strings.
If you can’t wait for the film’s release (unbelievably there is still three and a half weeks to go), then this should keep you satisfied until then. goo.gl/GWkLQ
