Your support helps us to tell the story

This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

Help us keep bring these critical stories to light. Your support makes all the difference.

Television

I love 'The Simpsons' and 'Futurama'. 'Family Guy' is great in its irreverence and 'South Park' in recent series has had some of the most incisive and relevant social commentary on television. Speaking of social commentary, though, nothing beats Charlie Brooker's 'Screenwipe' and 'Newswipe' programmes.

Films

To my surprise, I really enjoyed 'Watchmen'. At times it surpassed the graphic novel. I also can't wait to see 'Brüno'.

Books

I'm halfway through 'Bad Science' by Ben Goldacre. It's about debunking popular 'medical' myths that have no basis in actual science.

Theatre

I saw 'England People Very Nice' by Richard Bean and Shakespeare's 'All's Well That Ends Well' at the National. It's not easy to stage plays on a scale as large as that but the National manages to pull it off with apparent ease and incredible flair.

Music

I'm still enjoying Kings of Leon's 'Only by the Night'. The Killers and Elbow are current favourites, too, and of course being from Manchester I'm obliged by law to mention Oasis.

Ralf Little stars in 'Telstar', out now
