Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ellen Page ( Inception), Jesse Eisenberg ( The Social Network) and Alec Baldwin ( It's Complicated) join Penelope Cruz ( Broken Embraces) for Allen's 42nd film project scheduled to begin production in Rome this summer, according to Variety.
The director and screenwriter worked with Cruz on 2008's Vicky Cristina Barcelona, for which she won the Oscar, and with Baldwin on the 1990s film Alice with Mia Farrow.
Midnight in Paris stars Owen Wilson ( Marley & Me), Michael Sheen ( Tron: Legacy) and Rachel McAdams ( Sherlock Holmes). It opens in the US on May 20.
Page stars in the indie comedy Super with Rainn Wilson ( The Office), while Eisenberg is the voice of Blu in the animated Rio. Baldwin stars in comedy-drama Hick with Chloe Moretz ( Kick-Ass) and Blake Lively ( The Town). Penelope Cruz will costar with Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
