From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The fantasy adventure Clash of the Titans is poised to reign again, maintaining its grip on the US box office for a second weekend after beating the Easter weekend record.

With the epic adventure opening in 17 more countries around the world - the same number that released it last week - the 3D film is ready to rise above its rivals, the animated kid's comedy How to Train a Dragon and the new action romantic-comedy Date Night.

Even with the typical drop of 30 percent in ticket sales expected during a second weekend, this blockbuster which took in $120 million, will be the top earner. As a 3D movie it would be hard to wrestle the No. 1 spot away from the Greek gods.

The suburban couple of Date Night, starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey, may survive their ordeal on screen but they are no match for the destroyer of the frightful Kraken. Date Night should come in second.
