Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The festival will also feature an all-female jury this year. Joining Campion are UK film producer Tanya Seghatchian, Iranian director Samira Makhmalbaf, South Korean actress Yoon Jeong-hee and Indian actress and filmmaker Suhasini Maniratnam.
Campion won an Oscar for best screenplay for The Piano in 1993. Her recent films include In The Cut (2003), starring Meg Ryan, and Bright Star (2009), starring Ben Whishaw and Abbie Cornish.
Now in its 12th edition, the Mumbai Film Festival is working hard to increase its international profile after securing a deep-pocketed backer in Anil Ambani's Reliance Big Entertainment (RBE). Part of Ambani's vast telecoms and financial services group, RBE is also the financial backer of Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks Studios.
India's largest film festival, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), takes place in Goa from November22 to December 2. IFFI is organized by the Indian government's Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), while the Mumbai festival is organized by the non-profit trust Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI).
