Your support makes all the difference.With the fall season starting, US cinemas have four new releases vying for moviegoers' attention the weekend of September 17. The two films likely to earn closest to $20 million and kick Resident Evil: Afterlife from number one at the box office are The Town and Easy A, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Teen romantic-comedy Easy A starring Emma Stone ( Zombieland) and Amanda Bynes ( Hairspray) will appeal to female fans of TV show Gossip Girl up for this tale of a high school rumor mill based loosely on the classic book, The Scarlet Letter, with a twist. According to Hollywood blog The Wrap, this film should be an easy win at the box office.
The other contender for the top spot is The Town, a crime thriller directed by and starring Ben Affleck ( State of Play) with Oscar-winner Jeremy Renner ( The Hurt Locker), Jon Hamm ( Mad Men) and Rebecca Hall ( Vicky Cristina Barcelona). With a good showing at the Toronto Film Fest and strong reviews it should be a close call for first place.
The 3D computer animated comedy about lost wolves, Alpha and Omega, is co-produced by Mumbai-based computer animators Crest Entertainment. A family film that features the voices of Christina Ricci, Justin Long, Hayden Panettiere, Danny Glover, and the late Dennis Hopper.
And finally, young males will probably prefer the horror film Devil, produced by M. Night Shyamalan ( The Last Airbender), with a newbie cast. It delves into the nightmare of getting stuck in an elevator - with a demon.
