FILM: THE FIVE BEST REVIVALS
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Night of the Hunter (Curzon Soho)
Charles Laughton's only film as director is an astonishing one- off, as is Robert Mitchum's performance as a deranged evangelist with an eye for rich widows.
2
The Fountainhead Pullman (Everyman)
King Vidor's film about integrity and individualism stars Gary Cooper as an uncompromising architect whose talent is at odds with his time; Patricia Neal is the haughty blueblood who falls under his spell. Sun 4pm
3
La Dolce Vita (Riverside)
Fellini's portrait of Roman decadence from 960 can seem a little draggy nowadays, but with the faces of Marcello Mastroianni and Anouk Aimee to gaze upon it's perhaps ungracious to complain. Sun 7.35pm
4
Last Year in Marienbad (NFT)
A couple meet in a hotel where they had an affair the year before - or maybe not. Resnais' meditation on time and memory is either a cornerstone of European cinema or one of the great art-house bores. Fri 8.40pm
5
Bonnie and Clyde (Scala)
Let joy be unconfined - the immaculately scuzzy Scala cinema in King's Cross has re-opened. The programme is limited, but Arthur Penn's 967 gangster classic is a great Saturday-night headliner. Sat 9.30pm
