Yasujiro Ozu To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth of the celebrated Japanese director, the Renoir is running a season of his films, beginning today with Tokyo Story (see review above) and The Record of a Tenement Gentleman. The season also includes The Flavour of Green Tea Over Rice, Early Spring, An Autumn Afternoon and Late Spring, and runs until 6 January. MANCHESTER Solidarity Between Generations A short season of films to celebrate the European Year of Older People includes Cynthia Scott's The Company of Strangers (Fri 10), a funny and moving study of a group of septuagenarians, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe (Mon 13, Tue 14), and the French comedy Tatie Danielle (Wed 15, Thur 16).
