Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Describe your music in three words

Selected with passion

If you owned a festival, what would you call it and why?

'Back To The World' - one, because it's my favourite Curtis Mayfield track, secondly, it's the name of my label and thirdly, I'd be giving something back to the world....back to the people. You take something out - you put something back.....that's how it works!!

Who from the Festival No. 6 line-up is your must see act?

Laurent Garnier - it's been a long time since I've seen him perform....

What’s your best festival moment?

Back in the day with X-Press 2, we played Japan in 2002 at Electraglide. It was around the time of 'Lazy' and the line-up of artists was amazing including Sasha, Andrew Weatherall and Kraftwerk. It was mad times!

Name five people (dead and alive) you would like to go to a festival with

My dad, Colin

John Coltrane

Big Youth

Dennis Hopper

Marilyn McCoo (5th Dimension)

What record changed your life?

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - 'The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle'

If you ruled the world what would your first rule be?

Everyone get on with each other.....straight up peace

Who would be your ideal headlining act at a festival?

Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions

Who were your biggest influences?

Those that have gone before me - Frankie Knuckles, Tom Moulton, Walter Gibbons, Bones Howe, Norman Whitfield, Gamble & Huff......the list is endless

What inspires you?

Artists and producers that have vision - recent people include Adamski and his new material - 'Happy Ness' has been championed by Gilles Peterson, Sander Molder 'In Your Eyes' (Lay Far Remix) on Rebirth and De Lata's 'Unknown'....

What’s coming up for you in the next year?

A new project called 'Black Saints', Afrikanz on Marz album and more releases on my Back To The World label.
