Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Today we have 60 free tickets to give away at the Assembly Rooms (venue 3). Five pairs are available for each of the following shows:

James Stephen III (7.30pm). From America, a stand-up and musician who has won rave reviews from, among others, Bill Clinton;

Jim Breuer (9.20pm). Robin Williams meets Jim Carrey in this wonderfully warm stand-up from New York;

Corky and the Juice Pigs (10.10pm). The evergreen Canadians present their History of Comedy;

Simon Bligh (11.30pm). Perrier nominated in 1995 for his show about all things Japanese, this year Bligh returns to stand-up;

The Wow Show (6pm). Whose Line Is It Anyway?'s Steve Frost and cohorts take the Supper Room by storm;

Alex Lyons, Martyr to Arthur (12 midnight). From Kilkenny in Ireland, the former Saatchi copywriter who describes himself as "the bastard son of William Shatner and Gary Glitter".

n To take advantage of either of these offers take a copy of today's 'Independent' to the Assembly Rooms box-office. All tickets are available on a first come, first served basis only
