Digital, Cable and Satellite Television: Pick of the Day

HOLLYWOOD HAS long been interested in Tibet and the Dalai Lama. Here that fascination takes the form of Kundun (8pm Sky Premier, right), a beautifully realised biopic. In a complete change from his usual beat of violent gangsters, director Martin Scorsese charts the life of the Tibetan spiritual leader from the age of two. It encompasses both the repressive brutality of the Chinese invasion and the Dalai Lama's exile in India. This reverential film, showing for the first time on satellite tonight, is enhanced by the dazzling photography of the Oscar-nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins.

Kids (12.25am FilmFour) caused no end of trouble when it was released in the cinema. Photographer Larry Clark's movie debut is an unblinking examination of teens and their sex lives in New York City.
