DJ Morpheus, the compiler of the Freezone series, was never going to top the title he gave to last year's edition: The Radio is Teaching my Goldfish Ju-Jitsu. But once again he has succeded in collating 22 exclusive tracks of invariable quality. They range from deep house, ambient techno and jazzy drum'n'bass to dub, salsa and some unclassifiable others. There are noticeably fewer recognisable names than on previous Freezone outings, though you do get a track from French house guru Alex Gopher, one from Pork recordings' Bullitnuts and my favourites: the mellow "Moonbathing" by Amba, (better known as Tom Middleton, one half of Global Communiations), and "The Essence", a jazzy drum'n'bass one by the other half, Mark Pritchard. Many of today's established producers made their debuts on Freezones over the last five years, so on Fourth Person Singular there are probably names to watch. More importantly, there's over two hours to listen to.
