Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Norwegian National Ballet, despite making its British debut this week, has always had links with this country. Its tiny predecessor, the Ny Norsk Ballet, ventured to London in the Forties, when it had Norwegian and British directors, Gerd Kjoclaas and Louise Browne. Now they have a Danish director but have chosen a production by a British choreographer: Michael Corder's staging of the Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet. The company arrives as part of a festival of Norwegian arts, "Visions of Norway", which also brings four small, modern dance groups to London for a two-week season at the ICA.

Sadler's Wells Theatre, Rosebery Avenue, London EC1 (0171-863 8000) Tue to Fri 7.30pm, Sat 20 Nov 2pm and 7.30pm; Visions of Norway at ICA, The Mall, London SW1 (0171- 930 3647) Mon to Fri, 8pm, then 22, 25, 26, 29 and 30 Nov , 8pm
