Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Nobody could say Siobhan Davies lacks ambition. She recently celebrated her company's 10th anniversary with specially expanded productions, and in December a new work by her will open the Royal Ballet's first season in the rebuilt Covent Garden. Meanwhile, here she is premiering her first two-act creation, Wild Air. Besides her eight splendid dancers, she is again collaborating with the composer Kevin Volans. Londoners with enough patience can wait until September to see it at Sadler's Wells, but the smart thing would be to make the trip to Oxford this week, or Brighton next week. As our best living English choreographer, Davies qualifies for the Michelin assessment "worth a journey".
Siobhan Davies Dance Company, Oxford Playhouse (01865 798600) tonight, 8pm; Wycombe Swan (1494 512000) Tue 8pm; Gardner Arts Centre, University of Sussex (01273 622453) 18-20 May 7.45pm.
