In a clip from a 2011 episode of his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience, the comic can be heard laughing as his guest Joey Diaz brags about only giving female comedians stage time in exchange for sexual favours.
Recalling a woman performing oral sex on him in the Comedy Store in California, Diaz says: “You think I’m f***ing kidding? Yeah, you’ve got to suck my d*** to get up to [venue] the Belly Room. I’ll make a call for you. That’s the f***ing gateway into Hollywood, everybody knows that.”
Rogan then asks: “How many girls did you have do that?” To which Diaz replies: “20.” Rogan bursts out laughing and claps his hands.
Diaz then claims he had "this little blonde open mic chick" perform oral sex on him before she did her sets.
“Wow,” laughs Rogan.
“She finally freaked out when she got to Hollywood,” says Diaz, revealing this woman later wrote him a letter saying he "broke" her. “She was beautiful and when she left she had dirty f***ing nails.”
The podcast's then-co-producer Brian Redban remains silent throughout the clip.
The Independent has contacted Rogan’s representatives for comment.
Rogan has been widely condemned online since the video emerged, with comedian Melanie Bracewell writing: “This s*** makes me physically sick... Women belong in comedy as comedians and fans and don't deserve to be preyed upon."
"Joe Rogan laughs his a** off when the guy says he’s done it to at least 20 women," tweeted author Quarynnetine Valente. "Rogan doesn’t have one word to say against this. It’s hilarious to him... And you want to tell me this man should be part of our political discourse.
Last month, Rogan signed a reported $100m (£88m) deal with Spotify to make his podcast exclusive to the streaming service. The Independent has contacted Spotify for comment on the controversial clip.
The resurfaced video comes after comedian Chris D’Elia was accused of inappropriate conduct, including with underage girls. He has denied the allegations.
