Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Twice as Nice @ The Colosseum

One of the very best parties returns to Vauxhall for a NYE gig offering 12 hours of underground garage, hip-hop, dancehall and a thick slice of soul for a slick party crowd. DJ Spoony, Karl Brown and Steve Sutherland all feature, but you just know that TAN will have surprise guests to make the night unforgettable.

1 Nine Elms Lane, SW8 (0171- 263 9199) New Year's Eve, 8pm-8am, pounds 85

NYE @ The Dogstar

Advertised as "three floors of party mayhem", there's not much more to say about this event. It's pure hedonism with no frills - that's what makes it so good. Free beer all night, no dress code and no room to swing a cat. For your pounds 75, you also get a buffet and breakfast - and seriously hard house with retro beats.

411 Coldharbour Lane, SW9 (0171-274 6470) New Year's Eve, 9pm-8am, pounds 75

Addiction to DTPM @ Fabric

Since its move from AKA, DTPM has caught fire at London's latest superclub, and this is the perfect NYE dress rehearsal - it's one Sunday crowd which isn't interested in a quiet Boxing Day finishing off the mince pies. This end-of-Christmas party offers upfront house beats with a strong uplifting vibe for a hardcore and stylish crowd.

77a Charterhouse St, EC1 (0171-251 8778) Boxing Day, 9pm till late, pounds 16- pounds 30

ESCAPE @ Brangwyn Hall

This Swansea outfit is now so big they're running two NYE gigs. The most spectacular should be the one at this plush venue, where they've managed to persuade John Digweed, Danny Rampling and Jeremy Healy to perform - via ISDN link. It's tricky attracting the top DJs to a Swansea NYE shindig without pots of cash, but this gig should be a fest of trance-fuelled excess.

Brangwyn Hall, Swansea (01834 810060) New Year's Eve, 8pm-8am, pounds 75

One Love 2000 @ Ashton Court Mansion

One Love has long set the clubbing standard in Bristol. As the name suggests, this is a good-looking venue (with a huge marquee erected for NYE), and the night offers a strong innovative streak, as revellers can dance the night away (courtesy of Jody W and Daddy G), scream their lungs out on the karaoke stage or enact James Bond fantasies at the casino.

Ashton Court Estate, Long Ashton, Bristol (07970 843365/ 0117-963 3438) New Year's Eve 8pm-6am, pounds 95
